Careers plan 2021-22

Please also note that  Work Experience is not posted here.  This is because we arrange thee placements, their duration and time of year based on the bespoke needs of our pupils.

September 2021
  • Ks4 Pupils all allocated a 1:1 careers advisor (Julia or Verity)
  • Ensure all Y11 leavers are in Education, Employment or Training (Julia, Kerry Low, Commissioning Schools).  Fortnightly 1:1 sessions covering “Destination Dream Job” and beginning to visit colleges and 6th forms and make applications throughout the year
  • All VLC pupils receive Emotional Literacy Screening (Alex Kelly Talk about for Teenagers), bespoke plan made for developing skills needed for everyday life including careers
  • All pupils to research careers and identify one to study in more depth for the term (all year groups)

October 2021
  • Fire Service to Visit all Whitnash Centres (emergency services)
  • Cats Protection to Visit all Whitnash Centres (animal care)
  • Army to discuss careers at Whitnash as Shottery (Armed Forces)

November 2021
  • Barclay Life Skills Week – Every Centre to complete the Financial Survival Skills lesson PLUS one other agreed by the pupils
  • Royal Leamington Spa College | Tuesday 9 November 2021  |  5.30pm - 8pm
  • Warwick Trident College | Thursday 11 November 2021  |  5.30pm - 8pm
  • Moreton Morrell College | Saturday 13 November 2021  |  10am - 2pm
  • Rugby College | Tuesday 16 November 2021  |  5.30pm - 8pm
  • If VLC pupils would like to look around these colleges and would like to be accompanied by VLC staff, we can arrange this.  If VLC pupils need to look around a college during a quieter time, VLC staff will link with College Outreach in facilitate this if possible

National Apprentice Week – Apprentice in Engineering to visit the centres

Barclays Life Skills – Managing Money and Budgeting and one other careers skills lessons to be agreed with the centre
