First contact made by school/parent/referring party. NB. Where a student is enrolled in a school, the school should be consulted in the referral.
Visit arranged.
Visit takes place with young person, parent/carer, key representative from the school or agency/department and the VLC Principal/Senior Teacher.
Referral confirmed and timetable agreed.
Learner Information Form (LIF), Learner’s Statement (if applicable), and Risk Assessment forms all completed.
Student begins attending VLC, following an induction programme as outlined in our Student Induction Policy. Students and parents will be given a copy of our Student Induction Pack, containing information on timetables, curriculum, safeguarding, health and safety, bullying etc. Students will be asked to sign a Behaviour Contract when they start.
VLC maintains regular contact with the student’s parent/carer and commissioner, providing feedback on the student’s attendance, progress, aptitude for learning, behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding as well as any other issues which may arise.
